Abu Dabab Bay, Marsa Alam: Snorkel with Sea Turtles
A long day south to Marsa Alam, where green sea turtles graze on the seagrass of Abu Dabab Bay.
Highlights
- Green sea turtles feeding on seagrass
- Snorkelling from the beach with a guide
- Lunch at the beach
- Small group
Abu Dabab is a wide, sandy bay near Marsa Alam, about three and a half hours south of Hurghada. Its seagrass meadows feed green sea turtles, and on most days snorkellers see at least one grazing peacefully on the seabed.
A guide leads small groups out from the beach and keeps everyone at a respectful distance: no touching, no chasing and no feeding. Dugongs have been seen in the bay in the past, but sightings are rare today and never guaranteed.
It is a long day, with lunch at the beach and time to relax between swims. The early start is worth it.

Picked up on time, the crew spoke Polish and looked after our kids in the water the whole day. Best trip of our holiday.
